Imam Ahmad on Yahya bin Ma'een

Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal said:

كل حديث لا يعرفه يحيى بن معين ، فليس هو بحديث

ENGLISH:

"Every hadith that Yahya bin Ma'een does not know is not a hadith."

NEDERLANDS:

"Elke hadith die Yahya bin Ma'een niet kent is geen hadith."

The Angelic Side of Human Beings

It has been narrated by Ad-Dhahabi:

وعن رجل قال: عندنا بخراسان يظنون أن أحمد لا يشبه البشر، يظنون أنه من الملائكة

ENGLISH:

One man said: "In Khurasaan, they did not think that Imam Ahmad resembled a human being. They thought that he resembled the Angels."

NEDERLANDS:

"In Khurasaan dachten de mensen niet dat Imam Ahmad op mensen lijkt. Ze vonden dat hij op Engelen lijkt."

“If a person delivers Salaam to you"

Ibn Muflih wrote:

قيل لأحمد : إن فلاناً يقرئك السلام . قال : عليك وعليه السلام

ENGLISH:

Imam Ahmad was asked: “If a person delivers Salaam to you from someone, what should one say?" He said: "Alayka wa ‘Alayhi salaam", (upon you and him be peace)".

NEDERLANDS:

Ahmad werd gevraagd: "Als iemand de "Salaam" van iemand anders naar je overbrengt, wat hoor je te zeggen?" Hij zei: "Alayka wa 'Alayhi salaam", (vrede zij met jou en hem)".

"Why didn't you tell me Ahmad was here?"

Khallaf Ibn Saalim has said:

كنا في مجلس يزيد بن هارون فمزح مع مستمليه فتنحنح أحمد بن حنبل فقال يزيد من المتنحنح فقيل له أحمد بن حنبل فضرب يزيد على جبينه وقال ألا أعلمتموني أن أحمد هاهنا حتى لا أمزح

ENGLISH:

"We were with Yazeed ibn Haroun and he made a joke. Ahmad ibn Hanbal cleared his throat, and Yazeed said: "Who cleared his throat?" When he found out it who it had been, he put his hand on his forehead and said: "Why didn't you tell me Ahmad was here so I would not joke".

NEDERLANDS:

"Wij waren met Yazeed Ibn Haroen en hij maakte een grap. Imam Ahmad schraapte zijn keel. Yazeed vroeg: "Wie schraapte zijn keel?" Toen hij wist wie het was, plaatste hij zijn hand tegen zijn voorhoofd en zei: "Waarom zeiden jullie niet dat Ahmad hier was, dan zou ik geen grappen vertellen".
