"When a husband and wife..."

The Prophet said:

إن الرجل إذا نظر إلى امرأته ونظرت إليه نظر الله إليهما نظرة رحمة، فإذا أخذ بكفها، تساقطت ذنوبهما من خلال أصابعهما

"When a husband and wife look at one another (with love), Allah looks at them both with mercy. And if the husband then takes hold of his wife's hand, their sins will fall from their fingers."

["Al-Jaami' al-Sagheer lil-Suyooti"m 1977 - Saheeh].

"She has the right to end the marriage"

Ibnul Qayyim wrote:

أن الرجل إذا اشترط لزوجه أن لا يتزوج عليها لزمه الوفاء بالشرط، ومتى تزوج عليها فلها الفسخ

ENGLISH:

"If it was made a condition (during the 'aqd) that the man not marry another, then he must abide by that. Once he does marry someone else, she has the right to end the marriage."

NEDERLANDS:

"Als het een voorwaarde was gemaakt (tijdens de 'Aqd) dat de man geen andere vrouw huwt (zolang zij leeft), dan moet hij zich daaraan houden. Als hij toch met een andere huwt, dan heeft zij recht op scheiding."

"Celibacy has nothing to do with Islam"

Ibn Qudamah writes :

    ليست العزوبة من أمر الإسلام في شيء، ومن دعاك إلى غير الزواج دعاك إلى غير الإسلام

ENGLISH:

Imam Ahmad said: "Celibacy has nothing to do with Islam and the one who urges you not to get married would be inducing you to something other than Islam".

NEDERLANDS:

Imam Ahmad zei: "Celibaat heeft niets met Islam te maken! Degene die u oproept om niet te trouwen, heeft u tot iets anders dan Islam opgeroepen".

"Like a heavy weight upon an old man"

Abdur-Rahman bin Abza said:

مثل المرأة الصالحة عند الرجل كمثل التاج المتخوص بالذهب على رأس الملك ومثل المرأة السوء عند الرجل الصالح مثل الحمل الثقيل على الشيخ الكبير

ENGLISH:

"A righteous woman with a man is like a great gold-leafed crown on the head of a king, and a bad woman with a man is like a heavy weight upon an old man".

NEDERLANDS:

"De gelijkenis van een kuise vrouw bij een man is zoals een mooie kroon die met goud is versierd op de hoofd van een koning. En de gelijkenis van een slechte vrouw bij een kuise man is zoals een zware last op de rug van een bejaarde".

["Al-Musannaf", 17428].

"Now I don't approve of you for her"

Its narrated by Ad-Dhahabi and others:

جاء رجل إلى ميمون بن مهران يخطب بنته، فقال: لا أرضاها لك، قال: وَلِمَ؟ قال: لاَنّها تحبُّ الحُلِيَّ والحُلل، قال: فعندي من هذا ما تريد، قال: الآن لا أرضاك لها

ENGLISH:

A man came to Ibn Mahran to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage. Ibn Mahran said: "I do not approve of her for you". The man asked: "Why?" He replied: "Because she loves jewelry and garments". To this the man said: "Well I have as much of those as she desires". Ibn Mahran said: "Now I don't approve of you for her".

NEDERLANDS:

Een man kwam naar Ibn Mahraan om de hand van zijn dochter te vragen. Ibn Mahran zei: "Ik keur haar niet goed voor jou." De man vroeg: "En hoe komt dat?" Hij zei: "Omdat zij van juwelen en kleding houdt". De man reageerde: "Nou, ik heb van deze zaken zoveel zij maar wenst!" Ibn Mahran zei: "Nu keur ik jou niet goed voor haar!"

Ibn Abbas over trouwen

Ibn Abbas heeft gezegd:

“Als je in staat bent te trouwen, dan moet je trouwen, want als een dienaar van Allaah overspel pleegt dan neemt Allaah het licht van iman uit zijn hart, die Hij wel of niet terug zal werpen”.

(Ibn Sa’d in “Al-Tabaqat Al-Kubra”, Deel 5, Blz. 287).

Salaf over trouwen

Imam Ahmad heeft gezegd: 

“Er is niets beter voor een vrouw dan een man en er is niets beter voor een man dan een vrouw!”

Taawus heeft gezegd:

“Een vrouw is de helft van een man’s religie!”
