Ibn Taymiyah's fatawa

Haafiz Ibn Taymiyah said:

فأما استماع الميت للأصوات من القراءة وغيرها فحق

ENGLISH:

"And regarding the hearing of the dead, such as them hearing the Qur'an and other than it, then this is true".

NEDERLANDS:

"Wat betreft de doden en of zij geluiden horen, zoals (Qur'an) recitiaties of het dergelijke, dat is haqq (waar)!"

["Itiqad Sirat al-Mustaqim"].

And he also says:

فهذه النصوص وأمثالها تبين أن الميت يسمع في الجملة كلام الحي

ENGLISH:

"And these nusoos (texts) and the like of them proof that generally the dead can hear the living".

NEDERLANDS:

"En deze teksten en andere soortgelijken tonen aan dat de doden in algemeen in staat zijn de levenden te horen".
