Hudhayfah said:

On one occassion, I heard him take an oath: "By Allaah if I was able to pray a supererogatory prayer where my two angels could not see me;I would do so out of fear of showing off."

"If the verse is about science"

Shaykh Al-Albanee said:
"It is ONLY allowed to interpret a Qur'aanic verse in another way than how the Salaf interpreted it, if the verse is about science. (I.e. nature, universe, etc.)"

Ibn Taymiyyah said:
"Softening people’s hearts may be more beneficial in some cases than shunning. And shunning is more beneficial in some cases then softening hearts. Hence the Prophet softened the hearts of some people and shunned others".

Sufyan Ath-Thawri said:

قال بعض الصالحين: من أذنب وهو يضحك دخل النار وهو يبكي، ومن أذنب وهو يبكي دخل الجنة وهو يضحك
ENGLISH:

Some pious people have said: "Whoever commits a sin laughing will enter the Fire crying and whoever commits a sin while crying will enter the Paradise laughing."

“When Allaah wants good for a slave : He makes his heart an admonisher for him, it commands him (to good) and prohibits him (from doing bad).”

Abu Dardaa used to say:

من يتبع نفسه كل ما يرى في الناس يطل حزنه ولا يشف غيظه
ENGLISH:

"The one who’s soul follows (desires) all that which he sees possessed by the people: he just increases his sadness, and will never satisfy his cravings.”

NEDERLANDS:

"Degene, wiens ziel alles (verlangt) hetgeen hij bij de mensen ziet; het vermeerdert hem slechts in verdriet en het zal zijn verlangens niet vervullen".

" ... Better than speaking without knowledge”

Al-Qaasim said:

لأن يعيش الرجل جاهلا بعد أن يعلم حق الله خير له من أن يقول ما لا يعلم
ENGLISH:

“That a man live in ignorance after knowing the right of Allah is better for him than speaking without knowledge.”

NEDERLANDS:

"Dat een man (of een vrouw) in onwetendheid leeft nadat hij de rechten van Allah heeft gekend, is beter voor hem dan dat hij zonder kennis spreekt".

"And his wife, the carrier of wood"

Allaah, azawajjal, says in the Qur'an:

"Abu Lahab shall soon burn in fire that flames, And his wife, the carrier of wood (fuel)." [Surah Al-Masad : 3-4].

At-Tabari narrated :

حدثني محمد بن عمرو ، قال : ثنا أبو عاصم ، قال : ثنا عيسى; وحدثني الحارث ، قال : ثنا الحسن ، قال : ثنا ورقاء ، جميعا عن ابن أبي نجيح ، عن مجاهد حمالة الحطب  قال : النميمة


ENGLISH:


Mujaahid said regarding the words: "And his wife, the carrier of wood (fuel)", it means : "The carrier of gossip."

NEDERLANDS:

Mujaahid zei over : "En ook zijn vrouw, de draagster van het (brand) hout", het betekent : "De draagster van roddels".

"There is no single event that may take place ..."

Ash-Shaafi'ee (may Allah have mercy on him) writes:

فليست تنزل بأحد من أهل دين الله نازلة إلا وفي كتاب الله الدليلُ على سبيل الهدى فيها



ENGLISH:

"There is no single event that may take place to the people of the religion of Allaah but there is a guide in the Book of Allaah on how to handle it ..."

["Al-Risalah", 20].

"It has never occurred and it will never occur"

Ibn Taymiyah wrote:

قد قيل للشيخ عبد القادر الجيلي قدس الله روحه هل كان لله ولي على غير اعتقاد أحمد بن حنبل فقال لا كان ولا يكون



ENGLISH:

The scholar, Abdul Qadir Al-Jili was asked: "Is it possible for a persoon to be a Wali-ullaah (friend of Allah) and at the same time having on a different 'Aqeedah than Ahmad Ibn Hanbal?" He said: "It has never occurred and it will never occur".

NEDERLANDS:

Abdul Qadir Al-Jili werd gevraagd: "Is het mogelijk dat iemand een Wali-ullah (vriend van Allah) is en tegelijkertijd een andere 'Aqeedah dan die van Imam Ahmad aanhoudt?" Hij zei: "Dat is nooit gebeurt en zal nooit gebeuren".

"Celibacy has nothing to do with Islam"

Ibn Qudamah writes :

    ليست العزوبة من أمر الإسلام في شيء، ومن دعاك إلى غير الزواج دعاك إلى غير الإسلام



ENGLISH:

Imam Ahmad said: "Celibacy has nothing to do with Islam and the one who urges you not to get married would be inducing you to something other than Islam".

NEDERLANDS:

Imam Ahmad zei: "Celibaat heeft niets met Islam te maken! Degene die u oproept om niet te trouwen, heeft u tot iets anders dan Islam opgeroepen".
