"They write what is for them and ..."

Ibn Taymiyah narrated:

ذكر ذلك شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية في كتابه اقتضاء الصراط المستقيم عن عبد الرحمن بن مهدي وغيره قال: أهل العلم يكتبون ما لهم وما عليهم وأهل الأهواء لا يكتبون إلا ما لهم

ENGLISH:

Ibn Mahdi and others have said: "The people of knowledge write what is for them and what is against them; while the people of desire do not write except what is for them".

Abdulrahman bin Mahdi en anderen hebben gezegd: "De mensen van kennis schrijven hetgeen voor hun is en hetgeen tegen hen is, maar de mensen van begeerten schrijven alleen hetgeen voor hun is".
