"So they'll never understand fiqh!"

Al-Awaamah writes:

قيل لأبي حنيفة رحمه الله:في المسجد حلقة ينظرون في الفقه" فقال: ألهم رأس ؟ قالوا: لا ، قال: لا يفقه هؤلاء أبدا

ENGLISH:

"It was said to Abu Hanifah: "There is a halqah (gathering) in the masjid and they're studying fiqh". He asked: "Is there a (shaykh) amongst them?" It was said: "No". Abu Hanifah said: "So they'll never understand fiqh!"

NEDERLANDS:

"Tegen Abu Hanifah werd gezegd: "Er is een halqah (bijeenkomst) in de moskee en ze zijn fiqh aan het studeren". Hij vroeg: "Hebben zij een (geleerde) onder zich?" Ze zeiden: "Nee". Abu Hanifah zei: "Zij zullen dus nooit en nimmer de fiqh begrijpen!"
