"She should be a righteous and pious women"

Ibn Qudaamah Al-Maqdisi wrote:

بل ينبغي أن يراقبه من أول عمره، فلا يستعمل في رضاعة وحضانته إلا امرأة صالحة متدينة تأكل الحلال، فإن اللبن الحاصل من الحرام لا بركة فيه

ENGLISH:

"It is befitting that the guardian supervises the child from a young age – so the woman who breastfeeds and looks after the child (the mother or otherwise) should be a righteous and pious women who only eats from that which is Halaal – for indeed the milk that the woman produces after eating Haraam has no barakah (blessing) in it".

NEDERLANDS:

"Het is gepast dat de voogd van jongs af aan toezicht houdt op het kind – dus de vrouw die borstvoeding geeft en het kind onder haar hoede heeft (de moeder of iemand anders) zou een rechtsschapen en vrome vrouw moeten zijn die enkel eet van datgene dat Halaal is – want waarlijk, de melk die een vrouw produceert na het eten van Haraam (het verbodene) bezit geen barakah (zegeningen)."
