"They used to flee from the rulers"

Ibn Rajab narrated:

حدثنا عبد الوارث ، نا قاسم نا أحمد بن زهير ، نا أبو الفتح نصر بن المغيرة البخاري قال : قال سفيان بن عيينة ، قال أبو حازم ، وجدت الدنيا شيئين فتكلم بكلام طويل ذكره ابن أبي خيثمة قال سفيان فقال الزهري : إنه جاري ما كنت أري أن هذه عنده فقال أبو حازم : لو كنت غنيا لعرفتني ، إن العلماء كانوا يفرون من السلطان ويطلبهم وإنهم اليوم يأتون أبواب السلطان ، والسلطان يفر منهم

ENGLISH:

Abu Haazim is narrated to have said: "The scholars of the past used to flee from the Sultaan, while the Sultaan used to chase them. Today, they chase the doors of the Sultaan, while the Sultaan flees from them!"

NEDERLANDS:

Abu Haazim heeft gezegd: "De geleerden zouden vroeger van de leiders wegvluchten, terwijl de leiders naar hen zouden zoeken. Vandaag zoeken zij de deuren van de leiders, terwijl de leiders van hun wegluchten".
