"Whose is the dunya?"

Ibn Asaakir writes:

قال رجل لذي النون: الدنيا لمن؟ قال: لمن تركها فقال: الآخرة لمن؟ قال: لمن طلبها

ENGLISH:

"Dhun Noon (may Allah be merciful to him) was once asked by a man: "Whose is the dunya?" He replied: "The person who turns his back to it". He was asked: "And whose is the hereafter?" He replied: "The person who runs after it".

NEDERLANDS:

"Dhun Noon, (moge Allah hem genadig zijn), werd gevraagd door een man: "Van wie is de dunya?" Hij zei: "Degene die het de rug toekeert". Hij vroeg: "En van wie is het hiernamaals?" Hij zei: "Degene die achter haar aan gaat".
