"Unless it becomes sincere"

Al-Fudhayl Ibn Iyaadh said:

إن العمل إذا كان خالصا ولم يكن صوابا لم يقبل وإذا كان صوابا ولم يكن خالصا لم يقبل حتى يكون خالصا صوابا

ENGLISH:

"If a deed is sincerely for the sake of Allaah but it is not a good deed, then it will not be accpeted. If it is a good deed but it is not done for the sake of Allah, then it will also not be accepted, unless it becomes sincerely for the sake of Allah and it is a good deed".

NEDERLANDS:

"Als een daad oprecht voor Allah is maar geen goede daad is dan wordt het niet geaccepteerd, en als de daad goed is maar niet oprecht voor Allah is dan wordt het ook niet geaccepteerd, totdat het oprecht wordt verricht voor Allah en een goede daad is".
