"Umar used to gather the fuqaha"

Al-Ghazali writes:

كان عمر بن عبد العزيز يجمع كل ليلة الفقهاء يتذاكرون الموت والقيامة والآخرة, ثم يبكون حتى كأن بين أيديهم جنازة

ENGLISH:

Umar ibn ‘Abdul-‘Aziz used to gather the fuqaha every night and they would all remember death, the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter and then they would weep as if there was a janazah taking place".

NEDERLANDS:

"Umar Ibn Abdul Aziez zou elke nacht de fuqaha (geleerden) bij elkaar verzamelen en zij zouden de dood, de Dag des Oordeels en het Hiernamaals bespreken. Zij zouden (daarom) huilen alsof onder hen een janazah plaats vindt!"
