"It is not allowed for you to take their wealth"

Imaam Ash-Shafi’ee said:

قال الشافعي رحمه الله في الأم 4/284: وإذا دخل رجل مسلم دار الحرب بأمان .. وقدر على شيء من أموالهم لم يحل له أن يأخذ منه شيئاً قلّ أو كثر؛ لأنه إذا كان منهم في أمان فهم منه في مثله، ولأنه لا يحل له في أمانهم إلا ما يحل له من أموال المسلمين، وأهل الذمة، لأن المال ممنوع بوجوه أولها إسلام صاحبه، والثاني مال من له ذمة، والثالث مال من له أمان إلى مدة أمانه وهو كأهل الذمة فيما يمنع من ماله إلى تلك المدة

ENGLISH:

"If a Muslim man enters into Dār al-Harb with security and he is able to steal from their wealth it is not allowed for him to take from it be that a little or a lot. Because when he was in security with them so like that they are in security with him as well. The way it is not allowed for you to take the wealth of the Muslims it is not allowed for you to take their wealth when in security with them".

“Als een moslim daarul-harb binnentreedt met verbond en hij heeft de mogelijkheid om hun bezittingen af te nemen, dan is dat niet toegestaan of het nou om weinig gaat of veel. Want net zoals hij in veiligheid was onder hun, zo moeten zij ook veilig zijn voor hem! Net zoals het afnemen van moslim bezittingen is niet toegestaan, zo is ook het afpakken van hun bezittingen niet toegestaan als een verbond bestaat”.
