"From darknesses into light"

"Allah is the Wali (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into light". [Qur'an 2:257].

Haafiz Ibn Kathir said:

ولهذا وحد تعالى لفظ النور وجمع الظلمات؛ لأن الحق واحد والكفر أجناس كثيرة وكلها باطلة

ENGLISH:

"... This is why Allah mentioned the light in the singular while mentioned the darkness in the plural, because truth is one, while disbelief comes as several types, all of which are false".

NEDERLANDS:

"... En dat was de reden waarom Allah het woord "licht" in eenvoud noemde en "duisternissen" in meervoud, want de waarheid is altijd één en kufr is in velen vormen en het is allemaal valsheid".
