"Better then the blood of a martyr"

The Prophet is narrated to have said:

والذي نفس محمد بيده، لخلوف فم الصائم أطيب عند الله يوم القيامة من ريح المسك أن الخلوف أعظم من دم الشهادة لأن دم الشهيد شبه ريحه بريح المسك , والخلوف وصف بأنه أطيب , ولا يلزم من ذلك أن يكون الصيام أفضل من الشهادة

ENGLISH:

“By the One in whose hand Muhammad’s soul is! The breath of a fasting person is more beloved to Allah on the day of judgement then the smell of musk!“. Haafiz Ibn Hajar said: “So the breath of a fasting person is better then the blood of a martyr, because the blood of the martyr got compared to musk, while the breath of a fasting person is even more beloved (To Allah) then musk. This doesnt have to mean that fasting is better then martyrship".

"Bij Degene in Wien’s Hand Muhamads ziel ligt! De adem van de vastende is geliefder bij Allaah op de Dag des Oordeels (yawm al-qiyamah) dan de geur van muskus!” Haafiz Ibn Hajar zegt daarop: “De adem van een vastende is dus beter dan de bloed van de shaheed (martelaar), want de bloed van de shaheed werd vergeleken met muskus, terwijl de adem van een vastende zelfs “geliefder” is dan muskus. Dit hoeft echter niet te betekenen dat vasten beter is dan sahahadat (martelaarschap)".
